*PRESS RELEASE* *22/08/2024* For immediate release *ASANTI AKYEM* *NORTH NDC* *CONDERMNS BUSSING* *OF* *STUDENTS* *TO NPP* *CAMPAIGN* *LAUNCH**

The NDC in the Asante Akyem North Constituency has noted with dismay and concern, the callous and unwarranted behavior of the NPP when they forced, bundled and bussed our innocent SHS students within and outside the constituency to their infamous campaign launch at Asante Akyem Agogo on Tuesday the 20th of August 2024. Knowing how unpopular the party has become within the constituency, the NPP knew clearly that their campaign launch would be nothing to write home about in terms of attendance, since empty chairs stared at the organizers as at 10 am in the morning To avert this imminent humiliation, the NPP had no option than to vent their spleen on our innocent students and forcibly buss them to the campaign grounds. Students from Collins SHS, Oweriman SHS as far as Konongo, Juaso, Nobuam and Bosomeh Freho who were outside the constituency, were all bussed. In spite of the fact that all these students were preparing to sit for their WASSCE oral English examination within 24 hours, the NPP parochially did not consider that, not to talk of the risk involved in bussing these innocent students to the campaign grounds. Information the NDC gathered from the students indicated that, they missed their launch and supper , but were not fed too by the NPP. The NDC see this as one of the desperate moves by the NPP to politisize all institutions in the country. We therefore call on all well meaning Ghanaians, civil society, parents and the general public to condemn this inhuman act meted out to our students by the NPP, in no uncertain terms and sound a note of caution to them to desist from such dirty tactics going forward in the 2024 electioneering campaign. There is no doubt that this Akuffo Addo Bawumia led government has woefully failed Ghanaians due to their abysmal performance, but are so desperate to clinch onto power. We call on them to spare our innocent students and not to use them as sacrificial lambs as the NPP gasp for breath in their sinking boat to leave the political scene. The NDC will use all legitimate means to resist future occurrence of this draconian tactics by the NPP within the constituency.
